1. What information do you keep about me?

When you shop at Sweet Needle, there are different ways we gather information about you:

Personal Information

Personal information about you is gathered from our secure online shopping facility (excluding your payment card data; we do not store your payment details), our online newsletter subscription, our contact us and competitions/ giveaways you enter.

When you place an order or start a product enquiry with us, we ask for information such as your name, e-mail address, delivery address and contact details. The details we ask for many change. We keep a record of this information. All this is necessary for us to recognise you as a customer in the future and to fulfil the orders you place with us, plus give you the best shopping experience — e.g. get alerted when we have offers or new arrivals.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we retain only your email address to allow us to send you newsletters. At all times you retain the right to unsubscribe, and only share your email address with our email service provider (ESP). We will never share your email address with any other third parties as we are strongly against selling your data.

Payment Information

If you buy or purchase from us, your payment card details are collected by an online payment provider and at no time are these made available to Sweet Needle. Therefore, we do not hold or store this type of personal information, nor can we access your payment details.

Purchase History

We keep a record of your purchases with us, this means we can deal quickly with any problems you may experience with your order. It also means we can send you details of relevant offers.

Contact History

We keep a record of any e-mail correspondence you send us, which helps us keep track of any problems or concerns you've had with our products or services.

Entering Competitions

If you enter a Sweet Needle competition/ giveaway or other promotional offer, we may ask for your name, address and email address so we can administer the contest and notify winners. We may invite you to join our newsletter mailing list. We will always seek permission prior to adding your details to our mailing list.

Sweet Needle Purchases from Amazon (and Ebay)

In addition to selling our products through our own website, we also sell a select number of items through Amazon (who doesn’t, right?). As part of this sale process, Amazon will pass over to us some of your personal information, such as your name, delivery address, billing address and telephone number. We will only ever use this information to process your order and to provide updates on your delivery if you purchased through Amazon.

We also keep a record of our customers' purchase history of Sweet Needle products they have bought through the Sweet Needle marketplace on Amazon. Amazon are responsible for the delivery service of our products on Amazon.

a. Google Analytics

We make use of a tool from Google called Google Analytics which tells us about the way people are using Sweet Needle. It uses cookies to detect that someone has been to the site before, so that we can see how often people return to the site, how long they stay, and where on Sweet Needle they tend to go. We use this to try to work out what kind of experience they’re having on the site, so we can make it better. We also use Google Search Console to optimise your shopping experience on our website. It helps us to maintain and troubleshoot our website on Google Search results, which is the information you see related to Sweet Needle website on Google.

b. Google AdWords

This website uses the Google AdWords re-marketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to our site. It could mean that we advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site, for example, using the contact form to make an enquiry. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to Sweet Needle’s website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

You can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Preferences page by visiting: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated

We are thus able to record the efficacy of Facebook advertisements, for statistical and market research purposes. The collected data remain anonymous. This means that we cannot see the personal data of any individual user. However, the collected data are saved and processed by Facebook. We are informing you on this matter according to our information at this time.

Facebook is able to connect the data with your Facebook account and use the data for their own advertising purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s Data Use Policy found under: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. Facebook Conversion Tracking also allows Facebook and its partners to show you advertisements on and outside Facebook. In addition, a cookie will be saved onto your computer for these purposes.
